Greg Lyon’s ‘Out Of The Blue’

Borne of a deep connection to roots and country-soul music, and a life experience steeped in myriad musical collaborations in studio and live performance, Greg is one of our most revered and ‘in demand’ session/live musicians (mostly bass) since the 70’s. He was also a member of our best known jazz fusion outfit, Crossfire, so to me, it seems only natural that he’d deliver an assortment of cool songs dripping with groove and heart’n’soul……nothing ‘out of the blue’ about it!

‘Out Of The Blue’ is a joyous trip through soulful, heartfelt originals such as ‘Holy Wine’, and ‘New Day’ and new takes on choice old faves like ‘Mind Your Own Business’ by Hank Williams, Van’s ‘Into The Mystic’ and a lovely reading of Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love.’ There are more songs of course, all good, with majestic playing throughout plus a supreme amount of FUNk!

Oh, and by the way, he’s a hell of a singer.......out of the blue indeed!!
